The aunt of the Georgia school shooting suspect opposed his arrest, saying she will go ‘full throttle’ on anyone speaking ill of the 14-year-old. Her statement came a day after the Apalachee High School student shot and killed four people on campus and injured at least nine, authorities confirmed. He has been charged with felony murder and will appear in court on Friday, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation announced Thursday.
The suspect’s aunt, Annie Polhamus Brown, said in a series of since-removed Facebook posts that he was let down by adults around him. “They are charging my 14yo nephew as an adult, for murder,” Brown wrote after authorities identified the teenager on Wednesday.
“Yall ready to see Polhamus blood in full throttle? Nah, I wouldn’t be either.”
Brown further added that she will stick by the suspect, saying she ‘WILL NOT’ leave her ‘nephew standing alone!!!!’.
“When Uvalde happened, I told my own children that ‘only hurt people hurt people’,” Brown wrote in a post, further adding that she did ‘EVERYTHING’ she could to ‘FIGHT’ for her nephew.
“I will take care of my nephew and what he needs on this side — just check yourself before you speak about a child that never asked to deal with the bulls—t he saw on a daily basis,” she said. Brown told the Washington Post that the teen had been ‘begging for help from everybody around him’ and had mental health issues.
“The adults around him failed him,” Brown said.
