Chennai: A woman’s dead body has been found in an abandoned trolley near Thuraipaakkam in Chennai today, September 18. Chennai police discovered the body after a few construction workers in the area informed them about an abandoned trolley.

After reaching the location, police officials shockingly found a woman’s body inside the trolley and started the probe.

The deceased woman has been identified as Deepa, aged 32, from Manali. Her brother has confirmed her identity to the police, aiding the ongoing investigation into her death.

As per the police, the primary suspect has been identified as Manikandan, who is originally from Sivaganga district. Preliminary investigations indicate that Manikandan fatally attacked Deepa with a hammer.

Police are actively working on the case, with officials reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding area to gather more details. Forensic officials are also scheduled to visit the scene to assist in the investigation.

In other news from Chennai, notorious criminal Kakathopu Balaji was killed in a police encounter in the Pulianthope area of Chennai on September 18. Balaji, who had more than 50 criminal cases against him—including five murders and 15 attempted murders—had been on the run for a long time.

The Chennai police, acting on intelligence, tried to capture Balaji at his hideout. When he attempted to escape and resisted arrest, the officers were forced to shoot him. His body was then taken to Stanley Hospital for a post-mortem.

Balaji had a long history of crime, having been arrested multiple times, including 12 instances under the Goondas Act. Despite his previous arrests, he continued his criminal activities, posing a serious danger to public safety.

The body of Kakathopu Balaji has now been moved to Royapettah Government Hospital.
