New Delhi: After surrendering before Tihar Jail authorities, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been remanded to Judicial Custody till June 5.

On June 5th, Kejriwal will be produced virtually before the regular Court dealing with the Delhi Excise Policy Case.

Interestingly, the verdict on the interim bail plea filed by Arvind Kejriwal is also likely to be pronounced on June 5.

The Rouse Avenue Court noted the Enforcement Directorate recently moved an application seeking Judicial Custody of Arvind Kejriwal. The application was pending as he was on interim bail. On Sunday after Kejriwal’s surrender, the application was taken by the Duty Judge Sanjeev Aggarwal of Rouse Avenue Court. The concerned Judicial decided to send him to judicial custody till June 5.

According to the ED, Arvind Kejriwal has been made an accused and since the cognisance is pending we are praying for judicial custody of him. During the hearing, Kejriwal was produced from jail via video conferencing.

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal Surrenders Before Tihar Jail Authorities

Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal surrendered at Tihar Jail around 5 pm today as his interim bail granted by the Supreme Court in the liquor policy case came to an end on June 2. Kejriwal visited Rajghat and Hanuman Temple in Connaught Place today. He later addressed AAP workers at the party office.

Kejriwal had walked out of Tihar Jail on May 10 after the Supreme Court granted him interim bail for campaigning during the Lok Sabha elections. He was required to surrender by June 2, two days before the counting of votes for the Lok Sabha polls.

Last week, the AAP supremo approached the Supreme Court seeking a seven-day extension of the interim bail on medical grounds. However, the Supreme Court refused to urgently list his plea. He then moved the special CBI-ED court seeking interim bail, with the court reserving its order for June 5.
