The counting for the Lok Sabha Election 2024 is currently underway. In Tamil Nadu, the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has maintained its political ground. Out of 39 seats, MK Stalin’s party bagged 22 seats. The DMK, part of the Opposition INDIA Bloc, is contesting elections in alliance with the Congress, the VCK, the CPI and the CPI(M).
The INDIA Bloc is on the verge of making a clean sweep in the southern state. However, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which has pinned its hope on its state chief Annamalai, once again failed to open an account in Tamil Nadu. Annamalai is also trailing from the Coimbatore seat. The saffron party’s former alliance partner, AIADMK, also lost its political ground in the state.

In the 2019 polls, the DMK had won 38 seats out of 39.
As per the latest trends, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is leading/winning 294 seats. Meanwhile, defying all the exit poll predictions, the Opposition’s INDIA Bloc is leading/winning 232 seats. The majority mark to form government at the Centre is 272.
