Ranchi: Hemant Soren is expected to take over as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand again, after he was released from the jail last month.
The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader was released from jail after nearly five months. Hemant Soren had stepped down as Chief Minister in January before he was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in a money laundering case.
Hemant Soren was released from the Birsa Munda Jail on June 28 after nearly five months following bail from Jharkhand High Court in a money laundering case linked to an alleged land scam. He had resigned as Chief Minister before his arrest on January 31.
Hemant Soren will now stake claim to form government. If numbers remain on his side, he will be seen taking oath as the Chief Minister of the state yet again.
Notably, Jharkhand elections are just a few months away and JMM would not miss out on the opportunity to fight with Hemant Soren as their face.
All About Hemant Soren Case
According to Enforcement Directorate, Hemant Soren had directly indulged in the process connected with acquisition, possession and the use of proceeds of crime. Hemant Soren is knowingly a party with Bhanu Pratap Prasad in the activities connected with concealment of the original records for projecting the property acquired by him in an illegal manner as an untainted property.
Further, the process or the activity connected with the acquisition, possession and use of proceeds of crime by projecting it as untainted property is a continuing activity and is continuing as on day as he is still directly enjoying the said proceeds of crime by its possession, occupation and use by claiming it as untainted property, ED in its remand note had said, which was submitted in Ranchi.
