Moscow: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday arrived in Moscow on a two-day high-profile visit to Russia. During the visit, PM Modi will hold summit talks with President Vladimir Putin to review all aspects of bilateral ties. Both leaders review all aspects of bilateral ties and explore opportunities to further boost cooperation in sectors like trade, energy and defence.

Denis Manturov, Russia’s first Deputy Prime Minister, greeted PM Modi at the airport. Later in the night, the PM will attend the dinner hosted by Putin. According to sources, the PM would be honoured with Russia’s highest civil decoration. It was announced back in 2019. A series of events are lined up for PM Modi on Tuesday during his two-day visit.

PM Modi’s Schedule On Day 2 Of Russia Visit:

  • The day will start with a Community Event.
  • The Prime Minister will lay wreath on ‘Tomb of the Unknown Soldier
  • He will then visit ROSATOM Pavilion at VDNKh
  • There will also be a restricted meeting at the Kremlin.
  • Delegation Level Talks will be held followed by the exchange of documents.
  • The Foreign Secretary will brief the press.
  • Later on Tuesday, the Prime Minister will leave for Vienna.

Notably, it is PM Modi’s first trip to Russia in nearly five years. He last visited the friendly nation in 2019. At that time he attended an economic conclave in the Far East city of Vladivostok.

During the 22nd India-Russia annual summit on Tuesday, Modi and Putin are expected to explore ways to further expand bilateral relations in diverse areas, including trade, energy and defence.

“The special and privileged strategic partnership between India and Russia has advanced over the past 10 years, including in areas of energy, security, trade, investment, health, education, culture, tourism and people-to-people exchanges,” PM Modi had said in his departure statement.

“I look forward to reviewing all aspects of bilateral cooperation with my friend President Vladimir Putin and sharing perspectives on various regional and global issues,” he added.
