Donald Trump has survived three assassination attempts since 2016, the latest one coming last week when a 20-year-old fired shots at the former president’s rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Thomas Matthew Crooks camped on a roof, apparently aiming at Trump’s head, as he fired 6-9 bullets at the Republican nominee. One bullet grazed Trump’s upper right ear.

Meanwhile, authorities arrested and charged a man in Florida over alleged social media threats Donald Trump and his running mate JD Vance. He was identified as a Michael M. Wiseman, according to a statement from the Jupiter Police Department.

“After investigating the reports and the suspect’s Facebook account, JPD detectives found that Wiseman had made multiple threats against Trump and Vance, who earlier this week became the Republican nominees for President and Vice President, respectively. Threats were also made concerning bodily harm to members of the Trump and Vance families,” the statement read.

This is not the first time Trump has had to deal with threats or assassination attempts. Here are three major attempts made to kill the former president:

July 13, 2024: Thomas Matthew Crooks, a 20-year-old, carried out an assassination attempt on Donald Trump during a rally near Butler, Pennsylvania. He fired shots from an elevated position outside the venue, injuring Trump, who was hit in the ear. Crooks and a rally attendee were killed in the incident, and four others were injured. The attack led to heightened security measures at subsequent Trump events.

September 20, 2020: Pascale Cecile Veronique Ferrier, a Canadian woman, was arrested on for sending a ricin-laced letter to Donald Trump. The letter, which was intercepted before reaching Trump, demanded that he drop out of the 2020 presidential race and called him an “ugly tyrant clown.” Ferrier was caught while attempting to cross the border into Canada. She was charged with prohibitions regarding biological weapons and making threats via interstate commerce. In 2023, Ferrier was sentenced to nearly 22 years in prison for the assassination attempt.

June 18, 2016: Michael Sandford, a 20-year-old British man, attempted to assassinate Trump at a rally in Las Vegas. The Surrey resident was living illegally in the US after overstaying his visa. He approached a police officer under the pretense of wanting Trump’s autograph and then tried to grab the officer’s gun. Sandford, who had a history of mental health issues including autism and previous suicide attempts, told authorities he had been planning the assassination for over a year and did not expect to survive. He practiced shooting at a gun range the day before the incident. Sandford was sentenced to 12 months and one day in prison and was later deported to the UK in 2017.
