Erling Haaland has already created his legacy at Manchester City. The Norwegian striker helped City to register a continental treble last season for the first time in their history.

Haaland has already set the pace this season having scored a hattrick against Ipswich Town in the last game. The 24 year old also became the fastest player to register 50 goals in the Premier League surpassing the likes of Mohamed Salah, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Andy Cole.

With his three goals against Ipswich, the former Borussia Dortmund striker has now scored more goals than Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi at the age of 24. He also recorded the achievements in fewer matches which further proves his authority.

Pep Guardiola’s side further displayed their attacking prowess as they thumped Ipswich Town 4-1 in the Premier League and has sent a far broader message to their title challengers.

After the match, Guardiola compared the striker with Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo stating that the youngster could match their records.

“He did it in Salzburg and in Germany; the numbers are ridiculous.

“He can compete in terms of goals with Cristiano and Messi. The numbers are unbelievable at his age.

“He’s an incredible threat. Hopefully he can be here for many years.”

“I said a few weeks ago he feels better than [the] previous season. I remember he said before he was still tired, but this season with no Euros, he arrived really well.”

Yesterday’s hattrick was Haaland’s 7th and he needs five more to equal another Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero’s record who registered 12 hattricks to his name during his stint with the club.

With the Champions League draw set to be conducted on August 29, City will be eager to know their opponent as UEFA introduced a new league phase format which is set to be implemented from this season.
