Minnesota-based news outlet Alpha News claimed in a report that Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, who is running for Vice President on the Democratic ticket, allegedly stole a classified nuclear manual. The incident was recounted to the outlet by an anonymous source, who claimed to have worked under Walz as a soldier in the National Guards.

As per the report, the incident happened in September 1995. Walz’s unit in the Nebraska National Guard upgraded to a new self-propelled howitzer – a short grounded canon – that could fire nuclear artillery shells, as per the report.
The retired soldier, who wants to remain anonymous but is willing to cooperate with the FBI, as per Alpha News, told the outlet that the manual, to which only Walz had access, went missing around the time Walz returned from China from his honeymoon in 1994. He added that the missing manual was never reported because Walz was also holding a full-time job as a teacher while serving in the unit.
However, it is important to note that no evidence was provided to substantiate the claims made in the report. Alpha News said in the report that the Nebraska National Guard and Tim Walz’s campaign team did not respond to the report.
