indian cricket team leaves green park stadium as rain delays start of play on day 2- watch

The Indian men’s cricket team was seen leaving the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur after incessant rain delayed the start of play on Day 2 on Saturday, September 28. The weather conditions have not been favourable from Day 1 of the game as the match had a delayed start because of overnight rain. Although the first session was interrupted, rain returned in the second session and the match paused for the day.

Given the forecast, it was expected to be a weather-hit contest from the beginning. Only 35 overs could be bowled after India skipper Rohit Sharma invited Bangladesh to bat in overcast conditions as the visitors struggled to 107/3 after a brief resistance through Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto (31).

The situation did not improve on Day 2 either and for long, the pitch has been under covers even after the rain stopped. Watch the video here:

While Day 2 has been affected by rain in Kanpur, things are expected to improve in the coming days. On Sunday, a little morning rain is expected in the city while otherwise, it will just remain cloudy. There is a 59% chance of rain on Sunday, with a bit more play expected.

Mominul Haque (40 batting) and veteran Mushfiqur Rahim (6) were at the crease when the heavens opened up. Overnight rain had delayed the start of the game by an hour earlier.

India pacer Akash Deep (2/14 in 10 overs), who bowled round the wicket to the southpaws, hit the good length areas and got the ball to either shape away or come in with the angle.

Shanto (57 balls, 4×6), though, batted with positive intent, if not combative, to ensure Bangladesh do not lose way from the start.

As expected, the initial bounce and seam movement had openers Zakir Hasan and Shadman Islam playing in a circumspect manner.
