Ahmedabad: A 54-year-old railway worker died by suicide after being hit by a Jamnagar Humsafar train near the Maninagar railway crossing in Ahmedabad. The deceased, identified as Ashwin Rathod, was working as a junior engineer in the railways. The incident was captured on CCTV, and the Maninagar police are investigating the suicide case.

In another incident in Mumbai, a 52-year-old businessman jumped off the Atal Setu sea bridge connecting Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. The shocking incident took place on Wednesday, the second such suicide on the Atal Setu in three days as a banker had ended his life in a similar manner on Monday.
The businessman was a resident of central Mumbai. He drove his Sedan on the Atal Setu, parked it and jumped to death. The deceased person’s identity was established on the basis of his Aadhaar card, which was found in the car. The Police said that the man was apparently under mental stress in the last few days before his death.
In a similar incident, a man jumped into the sea from Atal Setu on Monday morning. The man stopped his car and jumped off at around 10 am in the morning. A passerby alerted the authorities, and teams from the Sewri police and coastal police reached the site and initiated a search operation, said a police official, adding that officials are also attempting to trace the man’s family members, reported PTI. Just three months after the bridge was inaugurated, a 43-year-old doctor jumped off the bridge and left a suicide note for her father.
