Indian hockey star and Padma Shri awardee, Rani Rampal, expressed her disappointment and frustration after her luggage was damaged by Air India during her return journey from Canada. Taking to social media platform X, Rani shared her ordeal, which has since gone viral, highlighting the airline‘s alleged negligence in handling passengers’ belongings.

Rampal shared her experience shortly after landing in Delhi, revealing that her luggage had been broken during transit. Tagging the airline, she posted, “Thank you Air India for this wonderful surprise. This is how your staff treat our bags. On my way back from Canada to India this afternoon after landing in Delhi, I found my bag broken.” She also posted a photo showing the damage to her suitcase as evidence of the mishap.

Air India quickly responded to Rampal’s post, apologising for the inconvenience. In their reply, the airline stated, “Dear Ms. Rampal, we apologise for the inconvenience caused. Please DM us your ticket details, bag tag number, and damage complaint number/DBR copy. We’ll take this up.” While Air India’s attempt to resolve the issue was noted, many of Rampal’s followers criticised the response as inadequate.

Fans and followers of the hockey star were quick to show their support, with many sharing their own negative experiences with airlines. One user commented, “Hope you filed for a refund / compensation?” Another added, “Air India needs to be held accountable for such incidents. They can’t keep apologising without improving their services.”

Several users echoed similar frustrations over damaged luggage, recounting their own experiences with Air India. A disgruntled passenger shared, “I had a similar experience last year, and all I got was a standard apology.” Another commented, “This is unacceptable. Airlines need to value the belongings of all passengers.”

Many are calling for Air India to improve its service standards, with one user remarking, “Air India must really improve its services, this is becoming a pattern.”
