Haryana Assembly Election Results 2024

Chandigarh: In a big turnaround, the Bharatiya Janata Party has crossed a halfway mark in Haryana. Counting of votes for the Haryana Assembly Elections 2024 is currently underway. The state is witnessing a tough contest between the Congress and the BJP. The grand old party, which was ahead in 58 seats in the first hour of counting, is now leading in 35 assembly constituencies. Meanwhile, the BJP has bounced back and now it is leading in 50 seats.

In Haryana’s Jat belt, the BJP leads in three seats, while the Congress is ahead in two. The Congress lodged a complaint with the Election Commission of India (ECI) on the consequent regarding delay in updating of results on the official website. After complaining to the ECI, the Congress is planning to visit counting centers of Haryana Congress leaders will also visit counting centers where there is close contest.

Key Highlights Of Haryana Elections:

  • Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini is contesting from Ladwa.
  • JJP leader and former deputy CM Dushyant Chautala is trailing from Uchana Kalan with over 16,000 seats.
  • Wrestler and Congress leader Vinesh Phogat is trailing from Julana.
  • Former Haryana CM and senior Congress leader Bhupinder Hooda is ahead in Garhi-Sampla Kiloi.
  • Anil Vij is trailing from Ambala Cantt.
  • Congress’s Udai Bhai is also leading from Hoal (SC) seat.

Arrangement Made By EC for Counting In Haryana:

Chief Electoral Officer Pankaj Agarwal announced that 93 counting centres have been set up across the state’s 22 districts for the 90 assembly constituencies. Notably, Badshahpur, Gurugram, and Pataudi will each have two counting centres, while the remaining 87 constituencies will each have one.

Postal ballots will be counted first, followed by EVM counting after 30 minutes. As per Haryana Chief Electoral Officer Pankaj Agarwal, 93 counting centres have been set up for 90 assembly constituencies in 22 districts. Badshahpur, Gurugram, and Pataudi assembly constituencies will have two counting centres each, while, one counting centre each has been established for the remaining 87 assembly constituencies.

A total of 30 companies of Central Armed Police Forces have been deployed at 93 counting centres, Agarwal informed. The counting centres have been put under a three-tier security cover. Central security forces have been deployed in the innermost security cover. Around 12,000 police personnel are on duty at the counting centres across the state.

The strong rooms will be opened in the presence of candidates, their authorised representatives, Returning Officers (ROs)/Assistant Returning Officers (AROs), and the Election Commission of India (ECI) observers, with videography conducted. Mobile phones will not be allowed inside the counting centres.

Congress vs BJP:

The main contest in Haryana will be betwen the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress. The saffron party will be aiming to secure majority for the third consecutive time, while the grand old party will be eyeing to secure power after 10 years.

Exit Poll Results:

Almost all exit polls predict a victory for the Congress in the Haryana Assembly elections. Satta Bazar has predicted a victory for the Congress, with 56-57 of the total 90 seats, and 22-23 seats going to the BJP. The Matrize Survey predicted a win for the Congress, with 55-62 seats and 18-24 for the BJP; Peoples Pulse projected a Congress victory with 49-61 seats and the BJP coming second with 20-32 seats; Dhruv Research predicts 57 seats for the Congress and 27 for the BJP. P Marq has projected a Congress victory with 56 seats and BJP trailing at 31 seats. The average Poll of Polls suggests Congress will win 55 seats, while BJP will win 26 seats.
