Kali Bari Mandir, Chittaranjan Park, Delhi
A focal point for community gatherings, especially during Durgotsav, this temple hosts one of the most prominent pandals each year. Known for its authentic Bengali culture, the Kali Mandir pandal is one of the oldest in the city, and features intricate decorations that reflect traditional Bengali art forms. Each year, the themes change, showcasing various social issues or historical events, making it not only a spiritual experience but also an educational one.
Kashmiri Gate Durga Puja, Delhi
The Kashmiri Gate Durga Puja Pandal is a must-visit, as it holds the distinction of being the oldest Durga Puja in Delhi. Currently located at the Bengali Senior Secondary School on Alipur Road, its roots date back to 1910, when it began as a community ‘baroyari’ puja. Having surpassed the 100-year mark, this pandal evokes a deep sense of nostalgia, maintaining its traditional style of decoration. The idols are adorned with the exquisite ‘Daaker Saaj,’ one of the most elegant forms of embellishment.
Minto Road Durga Puja, Delhi
If you’d like to see Dhunuchi Naach up close, this is where you should go. The celebrations at Minto Road take on a religious zeal unlike any other, with food stalls, dhaki performances and prayers continuing till late in the evening. Much like the pandal at Kashmiri Gate, Minto Road’s puja pandal has a glorious past, having started in 1940 by members of the local Bengali community.
CNPC Durga Puja, Noida
The Central Noida Pujo Committee (CNPC), which was started in 2018 to foster a socio-cultural and religious space for the Eastern Indian community, organises the largest Durga Puja in Noida, with multiple attractions, including cultural performances, food stalls from prominent brands, a selfie point, and an automobile display. This year, the pandal has been built on the concept of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, to complement the recently-opened Ved Van. At this pandal, expect a variety of competitions, a curated menu for all three days of the bhandara, and cultural programs every night.
Sushant Lok Durga Puja, Gurugram
This year, the Sushant Lok Durga Puja Committee (SLDPC) celebrates 25 years of community togetherness, marking both their silver jubilee and pandal festivities.
