As India mourns the loss of its ‘Iron Man’, Ratan Tata, stories of his humble and kind-hearted gestures have flooded social media. The philanthropist was not only known for his love of animals but was also deeply compassionate, always caring for the well-being of others. In 2020, after joining Instagram, a platform he had previously avoided to keep his personal life private, the industrialist shared a post celebrating one million followers.
On October 30, Tata shared a picture of himself sitting on the floor with his legs crossed and a warm smile. He wrote, “I’ve just seen that the number of people on this page has reached a milestone. This wonderful online family is not what I expected when I joined Instagram, and I have you to thank for it.” “I do believe that the quality of connections you make in this age of the internet is far greater than any number,” he added.
He further expressed, “Being a part of your community and learning from you is truly exciting. It makes me very happy, and I hope our journey together continues.”
While many poured in congratulatory messages, one comment stood out and drew massive attention. A woman, while congratulating Tata, referred to him as “chhotu”. She wrote, “Congratulations Chhotu,” with a heart emoji.
This comment sparked a wave of criticism, with many slamming her for using the term. However, Ratan Tata himself stepped in to defend the woman. The Padma awardee called for kindness, urging people to show respect. He wrote, “There is a child in each one of us. Please treat this young lady with respect.”
