KEY HIGHLIGHTS

  1. YEIDA plans a dedicated bus service to connect the Noida International Airport with Delhi-NCR by April 2025.
  2. The initial fleet of 100 buses will expand to 250, operated by a private agency under viability gap funding.
  3. Key routes will link the airport with major hubs like Pari Chowk, IGI Airport, ISBT, and Ghaziabad.

Noida: To ensure a proper connectivity to the Noida International Airport once it is launched, the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) is planning a dedicated bus service. This will help flyers coming or heading to Delhi, Ghaziabad, Noida, and Greater Noida or Delhi-NCR. The airport, on the other hand, is in progressing stage, and is expected to be opened from April next year.

This facility will be operated by a private agency. In its initial phase, there will be around 100 buses. The fleet will be expanded to 25o buses or more as per the demands. A request for proposal (RFP) will be issued soon. It must be noted that this service is not covered under the PM e-bus scheme, which aims to provide 100 buses for urban transport in the area. Instead, this scheme by the YEIDA focuses solely airport connectivity.

YEIDA CEO Arun Vir Singh stated, “Our goal is to have the bus service running by the time the airport opens next April. This will provide convenient and efficient transport for passengers going to and from the airport, directly connecting it with major cities,” quoted by Times of India. The official added that the service will implemented under a viability gap funding model.

This means the YEIDA would cover any operational losses even though a private agency would operate it. Authorities are planning to invite companies to operate the service through an RFP soon.

What Will be the Bus Routes?

YEIDA will discuss the routes with the regional transport office before finalising it. In addition to this service, the NCR Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has proposed nine feeder bus services to improve first and last-mile connectivity along the 72-km rapid rail route between Ghaziabad RRTS station and the Noida International Airport.

The NCRTC’s detailed project report outlines six feeder routes from Ghaziabad RRTS station to Ecotech VI near Kasna, and three routes connecting Ecotech VI to the Noida airport. These routes have been planned based on current development and population patterns in the region.

As the rapid rail project is still some time from completion, YEIDA is prioritising the bus service to ensure immediate connectivity for airport passengers. The buses will be electric, reducing pollution and aligning with the airport’s green-field vision.

Key routes are expected to connect the airport with major locations such as Pari Chowk, Botanical Garden, Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, ISBT, and Ghaziabad, among other cities.
