Woman Molested in Delhi-Chennai IndiGo Flight, Police Arrest Man within Minutes of Plane Landing

Chennai: A 43-year-old man was arrested from an Indigo Flight as soon as it landed in Chennai. The man was inappropriately touching a female co-passengers who raised an alarm after the man did not stop despite confronting him multiple times. When the pilot got to know about the incident, he alerted the air traffic controller mid-air. The incident took plane in a Delhi-Chennai Indigo flight on Wednesday.
The accused has been identified as Vettuvankani. During the flight on Wednesday, Rajesh was sitting next to a woman who alleged that the man touched her inappropriately. When the woman told everyone what he was doing, he apologised and said he touched her mistakenly. Even after that the accused continue to molest her, alleged the woman. This led the pilot to take an action, reported Times of

As soon as the flight landed, security personnel, already waiting for the airplane to land, entered and secured the man. They boarded the airplane even before the passengers could delight and arrested Rajesh. After that, the woman was also taken to the IndiGo office at the airport, where a written complaint was received from her. Meanwhile, the man was sent to the airport police custody.
Further investigation is underway.
A similar incident took place in November last year in an IndiGo flight where a woman was allegedly sexually harassed by a male passenger in a Mumbai-Guwahati flight. The woman alleged she was napping with the armrests down. After a while, she woke up to see a man sitting next to her was leaning, while the armrest was lifted too.
The accused was handed to the Guwahati Police as soon as the plane landed.
