Northern Railway’s crowd management plan for Delhi stations.
New Delhi: The Bandra terminus stampede has led to some quick decisions by the Indian Railways to prevent overcrowding at railway stations amid the ongoing festive season. Every year, hundreds and thousands of people board trains from major cities like Delhi, Mumbai and Pune among others to go home to celebrate Diwali and Chhath Puja with their family.
However, on Sunday (October 27), a heavy rush led to a stampede at Bandra railway station when passengers tried to enter a moving Gorakhpur-bound train which was being taken to the platform from the yard. Several got injured in the incidents while two were said to be critical.
The Northern Railway of Indian Railways network has suspended the sale of platform tickets at Delhi stations including:
- New Delhi Railway Station
- Old Delhi Station
- Hazrat Nizamuddin Station
- Anand Vihar Railway Station

The restrictions at Delhi stations will be in place till November 6. Moreover, the direct entry from the Delhi Metro to the skywalk connecting New Delhi Railway Station has also been temporarily closed.
