Dehradun: Dehradun witnessed a tragic accident involving a high-speed car chase, a party, and a horrific collision, resulting in the death of six friends. The accident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday when a Toyota Innova, allegedly racing with a BMW at speeds exceeding 100 km/h, crashed into a truck near the ONGC intersection.
According to the media reports, the SUV, carrying seven individuals aged 19 to 25, approached the intersection at high speed but failed to slow down. The vehicle rear-ended a truck that was nearly through the intersection, causing a devastating impact. “The car was seen speeding in the last 500-700 meters before the crash,” stated a police officer, according to NDTV.
The collision was so severe that it ripped the roof off the SUV, decapitating two passengers. The others were crushed inside, with body parts scattered across the road. Rescue operations required cutting through the mangled wreckage to retrieve the victims and the injured.
The deceased have been identified as Kunal Kukreja (23), Atul Agrawal (24), Rishabh Jain (24), Navya Goel (23), Kamakshi (20), and Guneet (19). While most hailed from Dehradun, Kukreja was from Himachal Pradesh. The sole survivor, Siddhesh Agrawal (25), who allegedly hosted a party to celebrate his new car, remains in critical condition at Synergy Hospital.
Following the incident, unverified videos surfaced, purportedly showing the group drinking before the crash. However, the police have yet to confirm if alcohol played a role. “We are waiting for a complaint from the families before registering a case,” Inspector KC Bhatt stated.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed his condolences, calling the incident “heart-rending.” He said, “I pray to God to grant the departed souls a place at his sacred feet and give strength to the bereaved families to bear the immense pain.”
