Mr. Saumil Hukerikar is a distinguished software engineer with over 12 years of experience holding a Master’s degree in Computer Science. He specializes in backend distributed systems and database technologies, focusing on NoSQL databases. During his career, he has worked across multiple industries including the financial, cloud computing, and social media.
His interest in data systems developed during his undergraduate studies, in the end, he published an IEEE research paper proposing a new algorithm to classify data into multiple groups that can be used for various use cases.
His interest in data-intensive systems was further consolidated at his first role as a software engineer in a financial institution where he developed systems where data integrity, security, and privacy were considered paramount requirements. Staying true to his thirst for excellence, he opted to pursue his graduate education with a keen interest in databases and backend distributed systems.
Post his graduate education, he joined the NoSQL team at a behemoth company in Cloud Service where he played a pivotal role in developing its Global Admission Control system for DynamoDB service, an effort for which he was granted a patent. This effort helped further propel DynamoDB as one of the prominent serverless database technologies in the world today. Currently, he uses his expertise at Meta Platforms, helping make Instagram accounts more secure against potential hackers.
Beyond his professional achievements, he is dedicated to giving back to the tech community. He actively participates in book reviews, serves as a judge in local and international competitions, and mentors the next generation of software engineers, sharing his knowledge and passion for technology.
He is of the strong opinion that inclusive data never lies and building systems that can leverage vast amounts of data available opens doors for technological advancements in the world. With the world currently embracing the emergence of Artificial technology, he aims to play an influential role in how data is structured and consumed by the Large Language Models to further this technology.
