Several big names in the music industry have asked Donald Trump to stop using their songs for his 2024 presidential campaign. On Thursday, ABBA and Jack White of the White Stripes asked the Trump campaign to not use their music, joining numerous big-name artists/ groups who have also refused to let their music be used by Trump. Donald Trump using music in campaign videos without permission is not new. Throughout his three runs for president, so far, at least 29 artists have asked for their songs to not be used or alleged that they were used without permission.
For his 2024 campaign, it started with Beyonce, after she allowed the Kamala Harris campaign to use her 2016 song ‘Freedom’. A Trump campaign posted a video of Trump alighting a plane with ‘Freedom’ playing in the background. Beyonce reportedly threatened to send a cease-and-desist letter if the campaign continued to use her songs.
