The IPL 2025 is all set to return with the mega auction for the first time in three years. This means that all the 10 franchises have to release a lot of players, and have been given the option to retain as many as six players by the BCCI. The deadline for all the franchises to announce their list of retained and released players is on October 31 (Thursday). One of the franchises that everyone will have their eyes are Chennai Super Kings. The biggest question on everyone’s mind is whether the legendary MS Dhoni would continue to play this season as well.
The BCCI recently brought back th rule wherein player who has been retired for more than 5 years in international cricket, can be retained by a franchise ahead of the IPL 2025 auction. MS Dhoni last played an international game in the ODI World Cup 2019 semi-final. This means that CSK can retain their legendary icon for just Rs 4 crore since he qualifies as an uncapped player.
In fact, MS Dhoni, in a recent event, said that he is looking to play in the IPL for a couple of more years. Hence, the chances of his retiring seem lesser and lesser right now.
According to a report by The Indian Express, Chennai Super Kings are having second thoughts about retaining Ravindra Jadeja. This is because they want to look at the situation with Rishabh Pant at Delhi Capitals. In case Pant is released, then CSK might not retain Jadeja, as they want to keep more money in their purse to go all out for Rishabh Pant in the IPL 2025 mega auction.
