Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s (AMC) health department recorded 494 cases of dengue in the city from September 1 to September 29, which nearly comes to 17 dengue cases per day. Additionally, epidemic statistics from the AMC’s health department show that the city also reported 102 cases of simple malaria and 58 cases of chikungunya.

The data further shows that from January 1 to September 29, the city reported 644 cases of malaria, 78 cases of severe malaria, 1,602 cases of dengue, and 129 cases of chikungunya. During this period, there were 9,080 cases of gastroenteritis, 2,322 cases of jaundice, 4,311 cases of typhoid, and 197 cases of cholera, a TOI report said.

The report mentioned that in August, an 11-year-old girl from Vasna and a 12-year-old girl from Vastral died due to dengue. Another 11-year-old girl from Behrampura also died from dengue. In 2023, a total of 805 dengue cases were recorded.

According to the civic body, the AMC tested 1,00,962 blood samples and 12,507 serum samples between September 1 and 29. Additionally, chlorine tests were conducted on 85,482 water samples, of which 403 samples failed. Bacteriological tests were conducted on 5,742 water samples, with 113 samples found unfit.
