Donald Trump on Friday endorsed Lousiana’s law requiring the display of the Ten Commandments in every public classroom in the state. The former president declared his ‘love’ for the legislation signed by Governor Jeff Landry in a late-night Truth Social post. He was, however, immediately reminded of his hush money verdict.

Earlier this week, Lousiana governor signed the legislation mandating public schools to display the Ten Commandments in classrooms. The move sparked a debate about religion and education. Several civil rights groups said they will challenge the law in court. Elementary, middle, high schools and public colleges have been ordered to display posters no smaller than 11 by 14 inches and the commandments must be “the central focus of the poster” and “in a large, easily readable font”.

Trump, a 2024 presidential candidate, showed his support for the law. The former president used a Truth Social post to ask: “I LOVE THE TEN COMMANDMENTS IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS, PRIVATE SCHOOLS, AND MANY OTHER PLACES, FOR THAT MATTER. READ IT — HOW CAN WE, AS A NATION, GO WRONG???”

He further continued, in all caps: “THIS MAY BE, IN FACT, THE FIRST MAJOR STEP IN THE REVIVAL OF RELIGION, WHICH IS DESPERATELY NEEDED, IN OUR COUNTRY. BRING BACK TTC!!! MAGA2024.”

It is important to note that Trump has been accused of breaking the seventh commandments, which forbids adultery. The former president has been accused of having an affair with Stormy Daniels. He was convicted in New York of 34 felony charges – to making hush money payments to keep the alleged affair a secret.
