Dussehra goes by different names across India, such as Durga Puja or Vijayadashami in the East and North-east, and Dussehra in the North and Western regions. However, the festival’s core theme—the victory of Dharma (righteousness) over Adharma (evil)—remains consistent. Durga Puja or Vijayadashmi celebrates Maa Durga’s triumph over the demonic Mahishasura to protect dharma, while Dussehra recounts the tale of Lord Rama’s victory over Ravana.
