Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday referred to former CM and YSRCP chief Jagan Mohan Reddy as a “mental fellow.” Naidu’s remarks came during a public address where he criticised Reddy and other leaders who came to power and proposed changes to the state capital.
“In my 45 years of political career, I haven’t seen anyone like this. It’s the first time I am seeing such a different politician,” Naidu said.
Naidu then spoke of the need to protect the state from “individuals like Reddy”, whom he described as a “case study” not only for Andhra Pradesh but for the entire country.
“Apart from such mental fellows (Jagan & other leaders) who came to power and want to change the capital, in the history of the country after independence… I don’t know… if you know you should tell me… In my 45 years of political career I haven’t seen anyone like this. First time I am seeing a different politician. We need to think about how to save our state from such people, he is a case study not only for the state but for the entire country today,” Naidu said.
Naidu made the remarks as he released a white paper on Amaravati at the State Secretariat. The Chief Minister felt that Jagan Reddy had betrayed the entire Telugu community by destroying Amaravati.
Naidu declared that Amaravati is a people’s capital which will be a centre for creating wealth, employment and poverty alleviation. The Chief Minister was of the firm opinion that had the progress of Amaravati been continued, it would have become another Hyderabad which is a centre for creating wealth for the neighbouring state of Telangana.
Making it clear that the state government will certainly fulfill the commitment made to the people, the Chief Minister announced that the capital will be rebuilt.
“The people have reposed faith in us and we will certainly fulfil it by rebuilding the capital,” he said. The state government will march forward with central assistance, Chandrababu stated.
