Pickleball is one of the fastest-growing sports across the globe. Pickleball’s popularity is also soaring in India and a total of 750 players are in Delhi to participate in the PWR DUPR India Masters. Chandil Sood, who is a professional tennis player, is in awe of pickleball and he is taking part in the PWR DUPR India Masters.
Chandril has represented India in the 30+ category in tennis and recently won two medals in Portugal. “I am a professional tennis player. I was 282 (ranked) in the world. I recently represented India in Portugal in the 30+ category. I won the gold medal in mixed doubles and bronze in doubles there. I saw that there’s a pickleball event in Delhi. There’s a huge trend in Canada (about pickleball). I wanted to try it out. I came here and I am playing the event,” Chanril Sood told Pickleball Now.
“It’s growing at a faster rate than I have seen any sport grow. It’s a very good thing. That’s why I was intrigued and wanted to see how the sport is. I wanted to play it, that’s why I am here. Hopefully, I can see…in one or two years, it can be bigger than any other sport. Cricket is there but it can be the sport that can compete with cricket,” he added.
