Rajasthan Royals batter Riyan Parag has said that what inspires him about Virat Kohli is that the veteran batter does not give in to temptations. One of the major things that he is learning from Kohli is the capability to control one’s instincts for the team’s sake. Kohli has been known as the chase-master for the longest time now and that is entirely because how he has kept calm even during the most tense of situations in run chases.
There is no better example than Kohli’s match-winning innings against Pakistan at the 2022 T20 World Cup, where he single-handedly orchestrated a tough chase to take India to a thrilling win.
Riyan explained how Kohli focuses on what the team needs and controls his desire to smack boundaries or sixes, just because the situation doesn’t need him to.

“He is a completely different person altogether. I think now that the stage he is in, he is in complete control. It is a very tough thing to do in cricket to be in control of your game. When you hit a six and 40,000 people cheer, it is difficult to control,” Riyan said while speaking on The Ranveer Show.
Riyan admitted that despite having a brilliant IPL 2024, he mistook shots and played in a rash manner, thrice or four times when the adrenaline was high. At 22, he thinks that he still needs to learn how to be patient in certain match situations and not go all guns blazing at all times.
Riyan took the fans by surprise when he was asked to pick his top four sides for the T20 World Cup. He said that he will not watching the marquee event and wouldn’t bother as to which teams would make it to the knockouts.

Riyan added that he will be only concerned about the top four teams when he himself gets to play at a World Cup.
“It would be a very biased answer, but to be very honest, I don’t even want to watch the World Cup. I will just see who is winning it at the end and I will be happy. When I will play the World Cup, then I will think about the top 4 and all of that,” Riyan told Bharat Army.
The Rajasthan batter had a brilliant run in IPL 2024 as he finished off as the third-highest run-scorer of the tournament.
