A Hindu priest, Rakesh Bhatt, opened the third day of the Democratic National Convention (DNC) on Wednesday with a prayer. He further emphasized the message of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’, which translates to ‘the whole world is one (my) family’. Thousands were at the event in United Center in Chicago to show support for Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential nominee.
After the gavel was struck, the annoucer called Bhatt to the stage to recite prayers before all delegates sang the national anthem. The priest recited prayers in Sanskrit and explained their meaning in English.
