Jammu: A Hindu temple was vandalised by unknown miscreants in Jammu’s Reasi district, officials said this morning. The Shiva temple that came under attack is situated in Dharmari area, they added.

The incident came to light after locals visited the temple last night. Local residents said that the Shivling and idols were damaged and the entire temple were found to be ransacked.

As the pictures and videos of the ransacked temple surfaced on social media, several Hindu organisations and locals held protests at various places in Jammu district demanding the arrest of the culprits.

BJP leader Ajay Nanda said that the attack on the temple was an “assault on harmony and religious sentiments”.

“I strongly condemn the vandalism at Dharmari Shiv Mandir in Reasi district of Jammu & Kashmir and request the LG administration @OfficeOfLGJandK @DMReasi @JmuKmrPolice to take strict action against the culprits who want to disturb religious harmony,” he said in a post on X.

“An attack on a temple is not just an attack on religious sentiments but an assault on harmony. Authorities must ensure swift action and uphold religious harmony,” he further said.
