Mumbai: Several movie theatres across Maharashtra will broadcast the election results on big screens in an attempt to make the electoral process more engaging. In Mumbai’s Sion, the MovieMax chain will screen the electoral process on the day of counting of votes for Lok Sabha Election 2024. It should be noted that the seventh and last phase of the electoral process will end on Saturday, June 1. The results will be announced on June 4.
Citizens across the nation will be glued to TV screens with news channels offering predictions and analysis throughout the evening. As per the PayTm, several theatres including SM5 Kalyan and the MovieMax chain in Mumbai’s Sion, Eternity Mall Thane, Kanjurmarg, Wonder Mall Thane, and Mira Road will take part in the unique initiative.
The screenings of the election results will commence at 9 am, and run for six hours. The ticket prices for watching the counting of votes in the theatres that day will range from Rs 99 to Rs 300.
The initiative will be carried out in Mumbai’s neighbouring cities too. In Pune, MovieMax Amanora will screen the results, while residents of Nashik can head to The Zone on College Road, and those in Nagpur can attend at MovieMax Eternity Nagar.

The aim of the initiative is to make the event engaging by doing away with the traditional way of watching the results, and making it a community-based experience.
Reacting to the news, several netizens have expressed concerns of potential vandalisation and other disruption. Meanwhile, others said it would be an entertaining twist on the typical election coverage.
