Indian coach Gautam Gambhir was seen taking part in the warm-up session with his players ahead of the India vs Bangladesh first Test action on Day 2, with Abhishek Nayar also heavily involved. Rohit Sharma-led Indian team didn’t get off to an ideal start against the Bangla Tigers losing three wickets early in the first hour of play itself.

Rohit and Virat Kohli were both dismissed after scoring 6 runs whereas Shubman Gill failed to open his account. Hasan Mahmud breathed fire with the new ball getting four wickets on Day 1 before becoming the first Bangladesh pacer to pick up a fifer on Day 2.

Riding on Ravichandran Ashwin’s century, India were able to shake off the wobbly start and reach a fightworthy total of 376, with Ravindra Jadeja also scoring 86 runs before the all-rounder missed out on a well-deserved century on Day 2.

Despite a slow start for India, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill were seen warming up with the likes of Gautam Gambhir and Abhishek Nayar. While Gill and Gambhir took part in a sprint race as the Indian youngster finished ahead of his coach, Nayar was seen jogging alongside Rohit near the boundary ropes.

After losing three early wickets, Rishabh Pant and Yashasvi Jaiswal helped steady the ship for the hosts. Jaiswal slammed a gritty half-century while Pant scored 39 runs to bring India back into the contest during the second session.

After Jaiswal and Pant perished, Ashwin and Jadeja took over the burden of scoring runs and together they wreaked havoc on the Bangladesh bowling attack. Chennai’s very own R Ashwin scored a second successive hundred on his home ground while Jadeja, who plays for CSK at this venue also capitalized on the opportunity to slam a fifty.

At Stumps on Day 1, Ashwin shattered numerous records as his partnership of 199 runs with Jadeja helped the Indian team to a respectable total. Early on Day 2, Bangladesh were able to restrict the hosts to a total of 376 but they have a mountain of a target to chase despite a blockbuster start in the series opener.
