India’s medal tally increased to 29 on Saturday (September 7) as the country added two medals to its tally. Simran Sharma won a bronze medal in the 200m T12 event. Just few minutes later, Navdeep Singh created history by winning the silver medal. His medal was upgraded to gold.

India have won seven gold, nine silver and 13 bronze medals so far. There are two more events on the final day of the competition and India will hope to touch the 30-medal mark. This is India’s highest-ever tally in Paralympics history. India had won 19 medals in the Tokyo Olympics.

Avani Lekhara, Navdeep Singh, Sumit Antil, Nitesh Kumar, Dharambir Nain, Harvinder Singh and Praveen Kumar are seven athletes who won a gold medal at the global event.
