Netflix and Vir Das are partnering up yet again with the comedian’s fifth stand-up special. The comedy show, which is said to celebrate love and kindness, is still untitled. His last Netflix special, Vir Das: Landing, won an International Emmy in the Unique Comedy Special category. Here’s all we know about Das’s latest comedy special.
Vir Das to collaborate with Netflix for new special
On Instagram, Netflix India posted, “It’s official! After winning hearts, smiles and an International Emmy, Vir Das is coming back to Netflix with an exciting comedy special and we’re here for it.” From the actor and comedian’s social media posts, it seems like the untitled special is being filmed soon in Mumbai. According to the press notes, his new comedy show is inspired by the ancient philosophy of sharing happiness.
In a statement, Das shared, “Comedy has the power to bring people together, no matter where they’re from. With this special, we are trying to bring something fresh to comedy by sharing stories and experiences that celebrate love and kindness while showing that laughter really is a universal language. This special will be an unapologetic direct shot of happiness to the heart. In my fifth special partnership with Netflix, I’m honoured to be able to showcase Indian comedy on a global stage and I can’t wait for audiences everywhere to join me on this journey.”
Past Netflix comedy specials
The Call Me Bae star’s first Netflix stand-up special aired in 2017 with Abroad Understanding. He returned the next year with another special called Losing It. During the pandemic in 2020, Das returned with another critically acclaimed special with For India!. The Emmy-winning Landing was his last Netflix special, which premiered in 2022.
