Delhi: The Crime Branch of Delhi Police has arrested the mastermind behind the firing incident that took place at a high-end luxury car showroom in Naraina, Delhi. The incident, which occurred on the evening of September 27, left both staff and customers terrified as three assailants barged into the showroom, demanding extortion money. The arrested individual, Deepak (26), hailing from Rohtak, is an international-level kick-boxing player with a dark side that led him into a life of crime. One more accused has been arrested by the Delhi Police special cell.

“A significant breakthrough has been achieved in this case with the arrest of Deepak, who was the mastermind behind the attack. We are continuing our efforts to apprehend the remaining suspects and bring them to justice,” said Amit Goel, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Crime Branch, Delhi.

What Happened On September 27?

On the evening of September 27, at approximately 7:15 PM, three armed assailants entered a luxury car showroom in Naraina, Delhi. One of the criminals put a pistol to the head of the showroom manager, while the others began firing at the cars and television sets, damaging property. They also snatched mobile phones from the showroom staff and left a handwritten threat at the scene, warning the owner to meet their extortion demands or face further violence. The assailants fled after the attack. The incident was immediately reported to the police, and a case was registered at PS Naraina.

Investigation and Arrest

The Crime Branch quickly took charge of the investigation, assigning a special team led by Insp. Mahipal, under the supervision of Insp. Satendra Mohan and ACP Ramesh Chander Lamba. The team carried out round-the-clock surveillance, scanning hundreds of CCTV feeds and gathering crucial technical evidence. Their hard work paid off when they identified a key suspect linked to the crime.

A trap was set in Rohtak, Haryana, where the suspect, Deepak, was arrested after a brief struggle. According to the police, Deepak attempted to escape using martial arts moves, but the swift action of the officers led to his arrest.

Accused’s Confession

During interrogation, Deepak revealed that he and his associates had demanded extortion money from the showroom owner. When their demands were not met, they decided to carry out the attack. Deepak was tasked with conducting a reconnaissance of the showroom, while his associates carried out the shooting. Deepak admitted to arranging the weapons and was present outside the showroom during the attack, ensuring he did not reveal his identity, as he was a well-known international-level athlete.

“I did not enter the showroom to keep my identity hidden,” Deepak confessed, adding that he kept his face covered to avoid recognition. After the incident, Deepak fled to Punjab while his associates went their separate ways with the weapons used in the crime.

Profile of the Accused

Deepak, a former international kick-boxing champion, has a remarkable sporting background. He won the international junior championship gold for three consecutive years and later secured a job in the Indian Army under the sports quota. However, he quit the army job and became a Wushu coach, running a kick-boxing academy in Rohtak. Despite his successful career in sports, Deepak was lured into a life of crime due to greed.

“He was an accredited Wushu coach and had been running his kick-boxing academy. It’s unfortunate that a person with such a bright future was involved in such a criminal act,” said the police.

Recovery and Ongoing Efforts

The police have recovered several crucial items, including a notebook from which the page was torn to write the threat message left at the showroom. Clothes, a bag, and shoes worn by Deepak, which were captured in CCTV footage near the crime scene, have also been recovered.

Efforts are still underway to arrest the remaining suspects and recover the firearms involved in the crime.

The police assured that they would continue their investigation and ensure that all those responsible for the attack are arrested.
