Director of Cricket Delhi Capitals The former India captain and ex-captain supports the continuation of the impact-player rule in the Indian Premier League but prefers teams to make their own decisions at the toss.
The impact-player rule has attracted considerable attention in recent years. IPL This was his first such season, scoring more than 250 runs eight times.
Ganguly said he hopes the limits will be pushed even further in future IPL tournaments.
“I like the impact player rule. My only thing about the IPL is that I wish the grounds were a little bigger. The fences should be a little back,” Ganguly told media on the sidelines of the International Procurement and Supply Chain Conference organised by Blue Ocean Corporation in Mumbai.
“It’s a great tournament. With influential players you can only make decisions before the toss, so it requires skill.”
“So the impact player should be revealed early on because it will require a lot of skill and game planning. But I am completely in favour of the impact player,” the former India captain added.

Kohli, who had a poor outing in this year’s IPL, said he is still a young player and is still trying to adjust to the shorter format.
“He (Prithvi Shaw) is a young player. He is just 23 years old. He is still learning to play.”

“He is a great talent and he will get even better. Sometimes we expect too much from everyone too soon and I am sure Prithvi, with his skills, will do well,” he added.

“He did a wonderful job for us (DC) in the IPL. I am very happy to see the way he has come back because I have always said that he is a special player,” Ganguly said.
He said, “I have said it earlier also that he is exceptional. You don’t want such talent to be wasted because of such a disastrous reason (accident). He has really worked hard to reach where he is and he is the old Rishabh Pant.”

He will be selected by the Bengal selectors as he wants to return home from Tripura.
“He wants to play for Bengal and that is right. He is a Bengal boy,” Ganguly said.
“He went to Tripura for two years as he was playing there as a professional player. He has completed that and now he wants to play in Bengal. I am confident that the selectors will pick him for Bengal,” he said.
He said, “I am not associated with Bengal cricket at the moment. I did not fight for the post of president when I completed my term.”

He said, “I have just taken a break. Whatever the selectors and officials decide, they will do that.”
