delhi water crisis aap says not'begging' for water as atishi leads satyagraha jab tak pani nahi milega

New Delhi: The water crisis in the national capital has become an all round political battle with Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) minister Atishi holding ‘water Satyagraha’ indefinite fast after the party failed to get help from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Delhi minister has now begun her fast saying that the same will continue till people of Delhi get water.

AAP has been accusing the BJP’s Haryana government for not releasing adequate amount of water and said that this is the reason why the national capital is facing shortage of water for weeks now.

Speaking on the ongoing situation, she said, “The ‘water satyagraha’ will continue until Delhiites get water. Haryana’s BJP government has stopped Delhi’s rightful water. As the water minister, I made all efforts but Haryana did not release Delhi’s rightful water.”

“Now I cannot see the suffering of Delhiites, so I am on an indefinite hunger strike and this ‘water satyagraha’ will continue until Delhiites get their rightful share of water,” she added.

Atishi said the Haryana government did not allow the water coming from Himachal Pradesh to reach Delhi and even after the Supreme Court’s order, the BJP government of Haryana did not give Delhi its rightful share of water.

“I also wrote a letter to the Prime Minister that he should get us our rightful share of water from Haryana. But for the last two days, the BJP government of Haryana has stopped 120 MGD of water that is Delhi’s right. This is why I am sitting on an indefinite hunger strike,” she further said.

Meanwhile, speaking on the issue, AAP MP Sanjay Singh said that they are not “begging” for water. “We are appealing BJP govt in haryana to provide water. They have a double engine govt. Water for 28 lakhs people stopped by BJP leaders are doing nothing but just drama,” the Rajya Sabha MP said.

“I challenge them to come here at the protest site and join Atishi. Atishi tried all means wrrote to pm lg and Haryana govt . And then decided to sit on indefinite hunger strike. Each MLA/ councillor of AAP will support her,” he added.
