Several flights either arriving or departing Beirut-Rafic Al Hariri International Airport in Beirut, Lebanon on Sunday were either delayed or canceled.
Lebanon’s MEA Airlines cancelled all flights to and from Beirut International Airport on Sunday citing an insurance issue. MEA announced that six flights scheduled to arrive in Beirut overnight from London, Copenhagen, and four other Middle Eastern cities would be delayed to Monday morning.
MEA chairman Mohamad El-Hout informed local broadcaster Al-Jadeed that these changes at Beirut’s Rafik Hariri International Airport were made due to “insurance risks.”

Several flights scheduled to arrive in Beirut faced delays also on Monday. Notably, Qatar Airways flight QR 418 from Doha, Turkish Airlines flight TK 828 from Istanbul, and multiple flights by MEA, including those from Copenhagen, Dubai, London and Doha, were all delayed, according to the website of the airport. These delays ranged from several hours to over half a day, significantly disrupting travel plans for many passengers.
In addition to the delays, several flights were outright canceled. Pegasus Airlines flight PC 758 from Istanbul, Aegean Airlines flight A3 946 from Athens, and Ethiopian Airlines flights ET 406 and ET 416 from Addis Ababa were among those canceled.
VF Airlines flight VF 543 from Ankara was also affected. These cancellations have caused further complications, leaving many passengers stranded and seeking alternative travel arrangements.
