India suffered their first ODI series against Sri Lanka in 27 years when they lost the third ODI. The Men in Blue were bowled out for 138 while chasing a target of 249.

New Zealand shocked India by registering their first win in the country in 36 years. NZ won the first Test of the three-match series in Bengaluru to kick off the series on a dream note.

New Zealand did the unthinkable and handed India their first series defeat at home in 12 years. The Tom Latham-led side won the 2nd Test in Pune to complete the series win.

India enjoyed a dream run under Virat Kohli’s captaincy and only lost two home Tests between 2015 to 2021. But India’s dream run came to an end under Rohit Sharma and Gautam Gambhir.

Questions raised

A report has suggested that questions are being raised over the decision to rest Jasprit Bumrah for the third Test match. Even though India had lost the series, they had much to play for.
