Khurai, MP: A recent incident at Jhanda Chowk in Khurai, Madhya Pradesh, has stirred outrage among residents after a man was caught urinating near the national flag pole and a “Jai Shri Ram” nameplate. The incident, which was widely shared on a WhatsApp video, has sparked anger across the city, especially among members of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Bajrang Dal, and other Hindu organisations.
The man identified in the video as Ram, also known as Ritesh Thakur, a resident of Khurai, was seen urinating near the sacred area late on Tuesday night, as reported by Dainik Bhaskar. Jhanda Chowk is an important location for local devotees, as it features a national flag and a religious plaque dedicated to Lord Ram, a place where people often gather to worship. The act has been described by many as deeply offensive, with residents stating that their religious sentiments have been hurt.

Shubham Tiwari from the Vishwa Hindu Parishad expressed his disappointment, saying, “Our religious feelings have been hurt by such an act at a place of worship.” Tiwari, along with other activists including Vijay Vishwakarma, Raunak Yadav, Rishi Patel, and Anil Sahu, filed a complaint at Khurai Urban Police Station, demanding action against the accused, as per the report.
According to Assistant Sub-Inspector Kamlesh Singh Dhurve, a case has been registered against Ram Thakur under Section 298 of the IPC and sections 2 and 3 of the National Honour Act.
