Ratan Tata, one of India’s greatest ever industrialists, breathed his last at the age of 86 in Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital on October 9, 2024. He has been one of the most influential figures in modern Indian history, and took keen interest in a variety of subjects including sports. He also had a great interest in cricket, and in fact, helped shape the career of some of the greatest Indian cricketers including the likes of MS Dhoni and Sourav Ganguly.

Ratan Tata, through the multiple companies that falls under the umbrella of the Tata Group, has time and again, employed several cricketers to provide them finanial stability and an oppportunity to concentrate on their cricket solely without worrying abou financial burdens.

In fact, three former India captains too have been employed by the Tata Group. Sourav Ganguly has been employed with Tata Steel, MS Dhoni with Indian Airlines and Dilip Vengsarkar with Tata Power.
