Navi Mumbai school holiday is declared tomorrow, July 9. Students and parents must note that the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation has announced the closure of all schools tomorrow due to incessant rains in the region. India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a ‘red’ alert for very heavy rainfall in Mumbai today, July 8. Several parts of the city are facing water logging, traffic congestion and other problems as repercussion to these rains.
Owing to the issues, Municipal corporation has announced closure of all government and private schools under its umbrella on Tuesday. Students and parents are advised to contact the respective schools for details. Some schools have already shared an internal notice with parents.
Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation has declared a holiday in all schools in its limits on 9th July. All govt and private schools to remain closed as per NMMC Education dept orders,” the official orders state.
Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) alerted the citizens regarding the rains and posted on X (former Twitter), “The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a ‘Red Alert’ for Mumbai. Mumbaikars, if not required, avoid stepping out of your home. Please do not believe any rumors. Please dial 1916, the contact number of the Main Control Room of the BMC, for help and official information if required.”
BMC also declared a holiday for all the BMC, government and private schools and colleges in Mumbai municipal limits for today, July 8.
Mumbai recorded 101.8 mm of rainfall on Monday, nearly seven times more than usual at this period.
