National Testing Agency (NTA) reports that 63 students nationwide—including 17 from Bihar and 30 from Godhra—were found to have committed malpractices during the NEET UG 2024 examination. This development has sparked widespread debate and calls for transparency in the conduct of national-level exams.
Following the postponement of the NEET-PG 2024 exam by the Ministry of Health, student bodies and medical associations have expressed dissatisfaction, citing concerns about the impact on the education system’s credibility. They have demanded a thorough investigation into the management of NEET-UG and NEET-PG examinations.
In a related move, the Ministry of Health cited the need to safeguard the examination process and deferred the NEET PG exam scheduled for June 23. Meanwhile, the cancellation of the UGC NET June 2024 exam due to leaked papers has further intensified scrutiny. The Education Ministry has acknowledged the breach and announced a re-exam for over 1,500 candidates affected by the incident.
Complications arose when the NTA withdrew grace marks intended for students affected by delayed exam starts at multiple centers. Despite assurances from Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan that NEET 2024 would proceed as planned, a significant portion of students continues to demand its cancellation.
The Supreme Court has also weighed in on the matter, expressing concerns over the compromised integrity of the NEET 2024 exam amid allegations of leaked papers. It has summoned responses from the NTA and the government to address the growing unease among stakeholders regarding the future of these critical examinations.
