Loud explosions and a massive fire near the O2 Arena in London sparked panic among locals on Friday. However, officials explained that the explosions were a ‘part of a pre-planned filming event in the Canning Town’. The fire broke out at the Trinity Bouy Wharf – an arts centre directly opposite London’s O2 Arena. The Daily Express reported that the fire was part of a filming set for the BBC.

“We are aware of reports of explosions being heard in the vicinity of the #O2 in #Greenwich. This was part of a pre-planned filming event in the Canning Town #E16 area. There is no risk to the public,” the Newham MPS | North East BCU said in a post on X, platform formerly known as Twitter.

Some reports on social media claimed that the noise of the explosion was heard up to several miles away. London Fire Brigade posted on X that 20 firemen are at the scene.
