With just less than two months left in the US elections, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump faced off against his Democrat opponent, Kamala Harris. The presidential debate began with a formal handshake, which grabbed attention as it ended an eight-year streak without such a gesture during a presidential debate. Both Trump and Harris went all guns blazing against each other, with the latter being very precise with her sharp comments and witty remarks. One such highlight from the debate was Harris’s takedown of Trump on the Russia-Ukraine war issue.
The former US President vowed to end the Ukraine war if he came to power. “I think it’s in the US’ best interest to get this war finished,” Trump said.
Trump’s statement was met with a fierce reply from Harris as she taunted the former President for his “friendship” with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Harris said that Trump would give in to the pressure of Putin.

“Putin would be sitting in Kyiv with his eyes on the rest of Europe, starting with Poland. How quickly you would give up for the sake of favour and what you think is a friendship with what is known to be a dictator who would eat you for lunch,” Harris responded.
Harris also raised Trump’s perception among global leaders. “I have travelled the world as Vice-President of the United States. World leaders are laughing at Donald Trump. They say you are a disgrace,” Harris said.
With her wit and composure, Harris sailed through Trump’s swipe and attacks smoothly. As Trump tried to highlight the failures of the Biden administration, Harris said, “You are not running against Bidden.”
