Race 4 producer confirms Saif Ali Khan’s casting
In a chat with PTI, Ramesh Taurani said, “Saif Ali Khan is returning in Race 4, the action franchise, and we are thrilled to have him on board. He excelled in the first two films. The upcoming film will feature a strong ensemble cast, and we are currently finalizing both the script and the cast. We will make an official announcement about the film before production begins, likely next year,”. Race 4 is also rumoured to star Sidharth Malhotra as the lead alongside Saif Ali Khan.
Race 3 outperformed the previous films: Ramesh Taurani
Race (2008) starring Saif and Akshaye Khanna as siblings Ranvir and Rajiv was a huge hit. The franchise went forward smoothly and Saif also reprised his role in the 2013 sequel, Race 2, introducing John Abraham as the antagonist. Both films were major hits and were loved by critics too.
The third installment, Race 3 was directed by Remo Dsouza with a new cast led by Salman Khan. Speaking about the film, Taurani refused to call it a failure. “The third film actually outperformed the previous two at the box office. While we projected earnings of ₹200 to 250 crore, it grossed over ₹180 crore, which is still noteworthy. For us, it was a profitable venture. The primary difference is that the first two films received better critical reception. Whereas the third did not fare well and we are committed to ensuring the fourth part excels.”, he added.
