Did you know Ratan Tata deeply cared for voiceless animals? Well, yes! He had pets too who he doted on. One of the instances that bore testimony to this is when Ratan cancelled a meeting with UK Royal King Charles at the last minute. Guess what the compelling reason could have been? Well, Suhel Seth, a columnist, businessman and actor, shared the reason behind such a move. In the video, he mentioned Ratan Tata’s dog was unwell and he decided to be with his furry friend instead of attending the event. Interestingly, the event was organised with by the UK Royal to felicitate the industrialist with a lifetime achievement ward for his philanthropic work.

Tata had earlier decided to attend the event in person, but at the last minute, he cancelled it. Seth shared, “The moment I landed in London, I was shocked to see 11 missed calls from Tata.” It was then Tata told Seth that one of his dogs Tango and Tito had fallen terribly ill and he couldn’t leave him and come. Isn’t this a classic example of his true blue, bonafide love for his dogs? This instance alone shows Ratan Tata’s priorities were clear.

Ratan Tata had also played an instrumental role in setting up India’s first Canine Cancer Hospital and an advanced Animal Care Hospital in Mumbai. On his Instagram, he would often sensitise people to be more empathetic towards the needs of stray dogs and would also post adoption requests of strays. In fact, his last venture was when he opened a Small Animal Hospital, a clinic dedicated to pets, in Mumbai.

In fact, the headquarters of the Tata group, Bombay House, had a separate room for street dogs who could visit there any time and feel at home.
