Senior actor Ramakrishna in a prominent role in the upcoming Kannada film ‘Mankuthimmana Kagga’, which celebrates the life of renowned Kannada literary personality D V GUndappa.

Those familiar with Kannada literature would have certainly come across the popular works of noted writer and poet D V Gundappa aka DVG, especially his all-time popular work – Mankuthimmana Kagga.

Here is exciting news for the admirers of DVG’s works as Mankuthimmana Kagga has been adapted into a film. It celebrates the life of the literary personality.

Ramakrishna in prominent role

The movie, which delves into the life of DVG, features prominent actors such as Ramakrishna, Master Ranveer and Bhavyashree Rai in prominent roles.

D V Gundappa’s contribution to Kannada literature is unparalleled with Mankuthimmana Kagga being one of his most celebrated works. It has inspired generations of readers.

Raja Ravishankar has directed the film with an attempt to bring DVG’s life to the big screen.

Produced by N.A. Shivakumar with Meena Sivakumar as co-producer, the film’s unit recently released the song Swamidevane, written by Sosale Ayya Shastri. The music for the movie has been composed by A.T. Raveesh.

Various stages of DVG’s life

The film captures various stages of DVG’s life including his childhood with senior actor Ramakrishna portraying Thimmanna in the role of a school teacher.

Master Ranveer plays the young DVG and Bhavyashree Rai as Alamelu. Ravi Narayan will be seen as Venkaramaniah. Other notable cast members include Lakshmi Nadagowda, Saiprakash, Srinivas Kemtoor, and Narasegowda. Makers share that the film is a tribute to DVG’s legacy, offering a cinematic exploration of his life and work.

Shooting of the film was done in the surroundings of Madhugiri. It is learnt that the censor board has appreciated the efforts of the makers in bringing DVG’s life to screen.

Apart from directing, Raja Ravishankar has also written the screenplay and dialogues. C. Narayan has handled the cinematography and R.D. Ravi oversaw the editing.
