Rohit Sharma-led India suffered a crushing defeat against New Zealand and got whitewashed in the three-match Test series. Given NZ’s below-par run on the Indian soil, India were the favourites to continue their 12-year-long winning streak at home. But the Tom Latham-led side pulled off a heist and created history.
NZ’s victory the series opener was their first win on the Indian soil in 36 years. NZ won the second Test to seal the series win. They also won the third game to whitewash the hosts.
India captain Rohit Sharma achieved another low following the series defeat and moved to the second spot in a forgettable list. Rohit now has the second-most defeats by an Indian captain at home.

Under him, India have now lost five home Tests. India lost their first home Test under Rohit against Australia in 2023. A year later, England won a Test match in India. The fans were confident of India making a heroic return after losing the first Test match but that didn’t happen.
Rohit will have a chance to redeem himself in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. India won their previous two series Down Under and will back themselves to emulate their heroics.
India have to win the series 4-0 to make it to the World Test Championship final. There could be big changes in the team should India lose the five-match series.
The series opener is scheduled to be played from November 22 to 26 in Perth. Rohit could miss the series opener due to personal reasons. Adelaide will host the second Test match from December 6 to 10. The third Test will take place in Brisbane from December 14 to 18.
The 4th Test will take place at the Melbourne Cricket Ground from Decemer 26 to 30. The fifth and final Test of the series will take place in Sydney from January 3 to 7.
