Rohit Sharma etched his name in history books and propelled India to a title win in the 2024 T20 World Cup. The Men in Blue defeated South Africa in the final to lift the trophy. Rohit-led India remained undefeated in the tournament and became the first team to win the title after winning all the matches.

Rohit created history and became the oldest captain to win the elusive T20 World Cup trophy. Overall, he became the second-oldest captain to win a World Cup trophy. Imran Khan is the oldest captain to win a WC trophy.

The former Pakistan captain was 39 years and 172 days old on the day of the 1992 World Cup final against England. He came out of retirement to lead Pakistan to a World Cup win. Rohit was 37 years and 60 days old on the day of the 2024 T20 WC final. He is followed by Brian Lara.

Clive Llyod was 34 years and 296 days old on the day of the 1979 World Cup final. West Indies defeated England in the final. Llyod also captained WI to a title win int he 1975 WC. Llyod-led WI lost to India in the final of the 1983 World Cup.

Rohit Sharma made a huge announcement after leading India to a title win in the T20 World Cup and quit the shortest format. The India captain seemingly delayed the announcement and did not reveal it while speaking at the post-match presentation ceremony.

Rohit confirmed his future while speaking to the media after the end presentation ceremony. Rohit made his T20I debut in 2007. He was part of the MS Dhoni-led side that won the inaugural T20 World Cup.

Rohit is the only Indian player to feature in every T20 World Cup so far. He replaced Virat Kohli as the T20I captain after the 2021 T20 World Cup and led the team till the 2024 T20 WC. Rohit-led India crashed out from the semi-final of the 2024 T20 World Cup.
